I Woke up to My Husband Saying: ‘Hush, She’s Sleeping’ — Story of the Day

I did everything for my husband, Aiden, but he was never satisfied. One day, I overheard him with another woman in the hallway, and that was the last straw.

I work as a project manager at a bank, often staying late and working weekends. Yet, I still managed the house while Aiden did nothing—he didn’t help with chores, cooking, or even shopping. I’d tell him about my struggles, but he didn’t seem to care.

One evening, I came home late to find Aiden demanding dinner while watching TV. I went out to buy food, and when I returned, he complained I took too long. After cooking, he ate silently and left me to clean the kitchen. The next morning, I felt sick, but Aiden’s first words were, “Where’s breakfast?” I was exhausted, and it felt like he never cared about me.

I couldn’t remember the last time Aiden supported me. Then, I overheard him planning a weekend getaway with another woman. My heart sank, but instead of confronting him, I decided it was time to end things.

I changed the locks, packed up all his belongings, and when he returned, I told him to leave. I was done with the man who had used me. He tried to argue, but I filed for divorce the next day.

A month later, the divorce was final. Since then, I’ve focused on myself, started therapy, and learned to love and respect myself. I realized it’s never too late to leave a toxic relationship and that I’m worth more than how Aiden treated me.
