Taking care of Mom was difficult enough, but the tension with my sister, Jane, made it worse. When things started disappearing, I thought I knew who was to blame, but the truth shattered everything. The betrayal came from an unexpected place, leaving me questioning everyone I trusted.
I was exhausted from working and caring for Mom. Jane, the golden child, never helped. I had to manage everything myself, with little support, while Jane only visited Mom when it suited her. One day, Mom called me in a panic—her gold earrings were missing. I suspected Jane, but Mom insisted she wouldn’t steal.
After another missing item, I confronted Jane. She denied it, but our argument only deepened my anger. Frustrated, I installed security cameras to catch the thief. When I reviewed the footage, I saw something shocking: my husband, Kaden, had been stealing from Mom. He admitted to gambling and borrowing money from Mom, but when she stopped helping, he turned to stealing.
I was devastated and confronted him. He confessed, admitting he’d let me blame Jane while hiding his actions. After telling him to leave, I went to Jane, apologizing for wrongfully accusing her. She hugged me, saying she helped not for him, but for me. She forgave me, and I finally realized who had been truly betraying me.
