Gina Carano, formerly associated with The Mandalorian, secures an $18 million judgment against Disney and Lucasfilm.

Disney and Lucasfilm faced legal consequences when they terminated Gina Carano, a star from The Mandalorian, due to her personal opinions, violating her civil rights. Superior Federal Court Justice Joseph Barron ruled in Carano’s favor, awarding her $18 million in damages and allowing her case against Disney CEO Art Tubolls and Lucasfilms Executive Sandy Batt to proceed, each facing a $40 million lawsuit.

Legal experts anticipate challenges for Batt and Tubolls in making their case, predicting a likely settlement. Carano’s legal action also includes a demand for her reinstatement on the show, although the decision is not within the control of higher-ups who express reluctance due to alleged behavior issues on set.

Insiders suggest that the likelihood of Carano returning to the show is low, as her presence is deemed problematic by some colleagues. Despite this, Carano insists on her return, even if it means the show’s end, prioritizing her own life over public opinion. While critics may view it as selfish, Carano sees it as an act of self-preservation.
