Sadie and Lori have been best friends since high school, and their lives have intertwined with their husbands, Benjamin and Keith. They often do things together, like celebrating birthdays. For Keith’s birthday, they rented a chalet for the weekend.
During the celebration, Benjamin, slightly drunk, hinted at a secret he’s been keeping from Lori, mentioning hidden “bottles.” Sadie, concerned about Lori’s past with her alcoholic father, debates whether to tell her best friend. Keith suggests that if Sadie feels it’s important, she should tell Lori.
The next morning, Sadie confesses what Benjamin said. Lori doesn’t seem too worried but appreciates Sadie sharing the information. The following day, Lori sends a cryptic text thanking Sadie, revealing that when she got home, she discovered the gas was left on in their house, possibly preventing a dangerous accident. She also found the bottles — but they were antique perfume bottles, not alcohol. Benjamin had been buying and selling antiques to surprise her with a Paris trip for their anniversary.
Sadie feels guilty for revealing the secret but is relieved that Lori is safe. Lori reassures Sadie, and all is forgiven. The surprise was still intact, and now Sadie is left wondering if she and Keith will be invited to Paris.
