ATHENS, GREECE — Director Yorgos Lanthimos has reportedly estimated that he’s just three more collaborations away from finally hanging out with Emma Stone outside of a film set. According to Lanthimos, a few more twisted period dramas or surreal projects might earn him a casual invite for drinks at his place.
He recounted their growing off-screen rapport: from a wave in a parking lot during Poor Things, to a chat about snack preferences on the Kinds of Kindness set. He believes their working bond is slowly blossoming into a true friendship — just not quite yet. “With the right weird film, maybe about a Victorian underwater school, we could finally grab sushi,” he joked, while also admitting it’d be refreshing to spend time with someone other than Mark Ruffalo for once.
