Americans Convert to Mormonism for Hulu Series Stardom

WASHINGTON, DC—A new Pew Research Center study shows a surge in Americans converting to Mormonism, driven by hopes of landing a Hulu series like The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Over 2 million joined the Church of Latter-day Saints last year, chasing fame.

“Many converts want a producer meeting for a show like The Secret Lives,” said researcher Mark Woodward. “They seek spiritual purpose, community, and a chance to spark drama by confronting friends over gossip.” For more on religious trends, visit Pew Research.

The Church is capitalizing on this trend. Missionaries now pitch fame, promising converts brand deals tied to cosmetic surgeries or TikTok scandals. “Mormonism offers identity and a shot at reality TV,” Woodward noted.
