Obama Presidential Center’s castle-like structure, criticized for resembling Castle Grayskull, set against Chicago’s skyline.

Obama Presidential Center Design Faces Backlash in Chicago

CHICAGO, IL—The Obama Presidential Center, nearing completion, draws heavy criticism for its design, which many compare to Castle Grayskull from He-Man.

The 19-acre center boasts a garden, an event space, and a striking castle-like building. Lead designer Hammond Hiss defends the bold look. “Our design reflects Obama’s legacy with strength and vision. Any similarity to Castle Grayskull is purely coincidental,” Hiss said.

The main structure, a fortress on a bony base next to a garden, sits by a deep chasm. Visitors cross a Jawbridge, a skull-shaped gate, to enter. Some say it feels under attack by dark forces seeking its power. Yet, Obama stands firm, declaring, “I guard this legacy, chosen by fate to lead!”

Inside, the castle offers portals to a throne room, a community museum, and a mirror room to view distant places. “I want to see my street from that mirror,” one Chicago resident said.

Though critics dislike the design, many plan to visit. Meanwhile, Barack Obama now calls the Obama Presidential Center his permanent home.
