Confederate Soldiers Home 1890

I thought this was intriguing, and perhaps some of you will too.

Tennessee caption Nashville, Tennessee: Confederate Soldiers’ Home. It’s a big brick structure with a portico and double front porch. Several men who lived in the house are posing in front of it.

Historical observation
The Tennessee Confederate Soldiers’ Home first opened its doors in 1890 on the grounds of Andrew Jackson’s former home, Hermitage Plantation. Tennessee-based aged Confederate veterans received care and accommodation at the Soldiers’ Home. The house was dismantled by 1936, having closed in 1933. The Hermitage utilized its bricks to construct a gift shop.
