While visiting my husband Ethan in the hospital, his nurse, Carla, quietly warned me to check under his bed when I returned to his room. I was terrified, but what I found made me call 911 immediately.
Ethan had been in the hospital for over a week recovering from surgery. I was exhausted juggling work, kids, and hospital visits. Last Friday, my dad volunteered to watch the children, so I decided to surprise Ethan with an evening visit.
When I arrived, Ethan seemed shocked to see me. He appeared distant, and his behavior was odd. Something felt off, but I brushed it off.
Later, while disposing of apple peels, I ran into Carla, who looked nervous. She whispered, “Check under your husband’s bed when you return to his room.”
Confused, I did as she asked, and to my horror, I found a woman hiding under the bed. Ethan tried to explain, but I was furious. The woman was a wedding planner, and Ethan had been secretly organizing a surprise wedding for me. He wanted to give me the dream wedding I deserved after our rushed city hall ceremony.
I was torn between laughter and tears as I realized the truth. Ethan’s surprise, though crazy, was full of love. After a moment of shock, I laughed and hugged him, relieved and touched by his gesture.
