Two weeks after their wedding, Sarah’s new life with Jake shatters when he accuses her of cheating. It starts when Jake receives a call about his mom’s accident and leaves to care for her. When he returns days later, he accuses Sarah of having another man in their home after smelling “cologne.”
Sarah insists nothing is wrong, but Jake changes the locks on their apartment and ignores her calls. Desperate, Sarah turns to Jake’s brother, Nick, who reveals that Jake believes she cheated. Jake texts her, claiming he knows about her affair and demanding an annulment.
In tears, Sarah realizes the scent Jake noticed wasn’t cologne but lemon-cedarwood wipes she used to mask the smell of fish, which Jake hated. She texts him to check the bathroom trash, but Jake doesn’t respond. The next day, Jake shows up at her mom’s, apologizing for his actions, but Sarah can’t forget the cruelty and distrust he showed.
After more apologies, Sarah realizes that love doesn’t turn so easily into suspicion and rejection. She leaves, choosing to stay with her mom. Two weeks into marriage, Sarah learns a painful truth: people who truly love you don’t turn on you so quickly.
