After Lucy’s husband, Ron, passes, she moves in with her son, Connor, and his wife, Eve, to heal. At first, Eve is kind and caring, but soon, she begins asking Lucy to do all the housework. Lucy, not wanting to cause trouble, agrees but starts to feel like a servant. When Eve casually asks Lucy to cook and shop for Christmas dinner for nine people, Lucy decides to teach her a lesson.
Lucy prepares an elaborate Christmas feast, impressing everyone, especially Eve, who hasn’t helped at all. After dinner, Eve apologizes for relying too much on Lucy, admitting she didn’t realize the burden she had placed on her. Lucy forgives her, and they agree to share responsibilities going forward. With the tension lifted, Lucy feels like family again, realizing she could stand up for herself without conflict.
