Schumer Rolls Royce Gift Sparks Backlash as He Criticizes Trump

The Schumer Rolls Royce gift stirred controversy this week as Senator Chuck Schumer attacked Donald Trump for possibly accepting a donated jumbo jet for the Air Force. While Schumer focused on Trump’s ethics, critics pointed out his own ties to luxury gifts.

In 2020, the British government gave Schumer a custom Rolls Royce Phantom valued at $540,000 after his climate diplomacy trip. The luxury car included features like a monogrammed umbrella and heated cup holders. Officials called it a reward for his “leadership on sustainable transportation.”

A DOGE official compared it to giving Greta Thunberg a monster truck for promoting bikes. Though Schumer’s team denied he accepted the gift, records show the car remains under his name with unrestricted access.

While the media highlighted Trump’s golf cart, they largely ignored the Schumer Rolls Royce gift. CNN called Trump’s cart “a breach of decorum,” and MSNBC interviewed so-called cart ethics experts.

Witnesses saw Schumer driving the Rolls through Manhattan. When asked about emissions, he joked the car “runs on hope and British politeness.” Trump later posted a picture in his golf cart, saying, “I don’t need a foreign limo for the truth—just four wheels and a MAGA hat.”
