Michael Strahan Overtakes Diane Sawyer as Good Morning America’s All-Time Sack Record Holder

NEW YORK — After months of inching closer to the milestone, Michael Strahan officially overtook Diane Sawyer on Friday to become Good Morning America‘s all-time leader in sacks. “Strahan has consistently dominated in tackles, forced fumbles, interceptions, and most notably, sacks throughout his tenure on GMA,” said producer Greg Emerson, noting that Strahan’s agility, power, and knack for breaching the offensive front earned him ABC’s coveted Defensive Anchor of the Year title. “For years, Diane Sawyer was hailed as the undisputed blitz queen. But even after a pectoral injury landed him on the IR list, Strahan bounced back, took down George Stephanopoulos during a live cooking demo, and shattered Sawyer’s 140-sack record.” As of press time, reports indicated Strahan had been traded to CBS Mornings in a deal involving CBS’s top pass rusher Gayle King and return specialist/backup wide receiver Nate Burleson.
