Menendez Brothers Walk of Fame Star Honors True Crime Legacy
LOS ANGELES — The Menendez Brothers Walk of Fame star was unveiled this week, recognizing their unexpected influence on the true crime genre and pop culture. Convicted killers Lyle and Erik Menendez received this controversial Hollywood honor despite serving life sentences for first-degree murder.
During the event, Monsters creator Ryan Murphy praised the siblings for their lasting impact on storytelling. “The Menendez brothers shaped the true crime world in ways few could,” Murphy said. He highlighted their Beverly Hills roots, calling the brothers “local legends” whose story continues to fascinate the public.
Murphy also noted that working on projects inspired by the Menendez Brothers Walk of Fame star honorees gave him insight into how their tragic family history captured global attention. He called Erik and Lyle “multitalented figures who left a unique mark on Hollywood and beyond.”
This recognition follows their strange connection to sports history. The brothers were recently mentioned in the NBA Hall of Fame for appearing in the background of Knicks player Mark Jackson’s 1990–91 basketball card.
