DJ Carey arriving in court with injuries during sentencing hearing

DJ Carey Sentencing: Lawyers Ask Judge to Consider His Injuries

Former hurling star DJ Carey, who recently pleaded guilty to ten counts of defrauding individuals by falsely claiming he had cancer, has requested that the court take his current injuries into account during sentencing.

Carey’s legal team stated that he sustained severe injuries in an unfortunate accident, which they believe should be viewed as a mitigating factor. According to his representatives, Carey reportedly fell while attempting to help a kitten from a tree on his way to court. They emphasized that the injuries were significant, as Carey appeared in court in a full body cast and using a wheelchair.

His legal team argued that the extent of these injuries might impact his quality of life permanently, suggesting he may never walk again. They also highlighted the physical challenges he now faces, including difficulties performing basic tasks.

While DJ Carey’s defense did not initially provide character references from sports figures, it is expected that they will be submitted ahead of sentencing in October.

Outside the court, some individuals expressed their frustration and disappointment over Carey’s actions, especially regarding the emotional harm caused to his victims.

Meanwhile, law enforcement officials stated they remain committed to fully dismantling any remaining elements connected to Carey’s fraudulent activities, ensuring justice is served.
